40-year-old females just like males may start to struggle to maintain a healthy weight through inactivity, and as a result of lower metabolism, this increases the likelihood of further weight gain.

Sometimes being more unhealthy and overweight also lowers confidence and as we age this just stops you from doing things. Getting out and about seems a chore and being overweight can make you more self-conscious in certain situations.

A basic workout to help a 40-year-old female get into shape could be something like hitting the road for a 20-minute power walk, warm up on a local loop, then head home for 10 minutes of strength training.

This could be 10 squats into 5 knee press-ups repeated 3 times into a 1-minute rest.

After the rest hit your abdominal muscles and maybe do 10 crunches into a 30-second rest, 3 times through.

As the weeks go, increase the number of reps, before you know it you’ll start to see and feel a difference! Be consistent and disciplined and you’ll get there.
